Hitch Hiker™ Leash

I am a woman who is blind. I used this to take my beautiful service dog Kombi, to the river, for the last two summers. He had severe arthritis and thus, needed to swim. I could not allow him to swim off leash, even if we located a calm lake to swim in. Which we did, last summer. I trusted him to come back to me, but did not trust the water not to take him away. And since I am blind, it made it so easy to find him. Even if I could not feel him moving, just follow the cord and there he was, eventually. He was the type who just adored to swim, no matter what. And had I been able to swim myself in a lake or river with him, this leash would have allowed us to do that together!!! I had to put him down on the fifth of August. He was built like a Corgi.

For the last eight months, we have had a beautiful service dog in training puppy. She is a miniature Golden Retriever. Her name is Sneachta, pronounced Shnakta, the Irish word for snow. I was considering purchasing Sneachta another hitchhiker leash. But now, I don't need to. We have been to the river twice, since kombi died and are going again, tomorrow. Sneachta loves to chase toys at the river. We have a toy which one of my friends made kombi, for the river. Sneachta will not swim without a toy or a stick to go after. Whereas Kombi would have swam all day, whether he had a toy or not. This leash allows me to keep Sneachta somewhat close at hand, which is great, since she's ten months old and interested in everything. And…

This leash works great, allows you to have your hands free and keep the pup at many different lengths

It is very pleasant not to always have to hold the leash in your hands.
