Ruffwear's apparel features an active, tailored fit that hugs close to your dog's body, designed to move with their natural range of motion. Measurement is determined by your dog’s chest girth, measured around the widest part of the rib cage. Coverage may fit slightly shorter or longer depending on your dog’s proportions. If between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit, or down for a more snug fit.

The Hemp Hound everyday knit sweater taps into the natural durability, breathability, and odor-resistance of hemp for warmth from town to trail on clear, cold days.

The open cap-sleeve construction and full-length zipper work in tandem to not only capture core warmth, but also give hard-to-fit dogs (broad shoulders, thick chests/necks) an alternative fit option with more belly coverage and full range of motion.

While each style of Ruffwear apparel is designed for its intended use, this guide generalizes our fits in three ways. The Hemp Hound™ is a Regular Fit with a zippered closure.

Formfitting Regular Fit Relaxed Fit
Snug and conforms to the body’s contours. Can be worn standalone or layered under Relaxed apparel. Tailored with a bit of wiggle room. Can be worn standalone or layered under Relaxed apparel. A loose fit that drapes the body. Can be worn standalone or over Regular or Formfitting apparel. Works well for hard-to-fit dog shapes and sizes.

    Great fitting sweater

    I admit, my need for purchasing this sweater is probably not the standard need. My 11 year old Golden is recovering from cancer, and is in the process of losing his coat (hair). He is a therapy animal and I needed something to help cover (and contain the hair loss). Size large fits him well!

    Excellent Quality

    My sweet doggo has happily been wearing her sweater for a few weeks now and it's been washed multiple times already. We did snag a clearance deal, as the original price tag was a bit much. Aside from price point - it's the perfect layer to keep the sun off her black coat, while maintaining her temperature in the strong Newfoundland wind. Fits great under her harness in the car. Easy on-off, which is key for both of us. Her style is the Heliotrope Purple, which is more blue although still a clean colour. The best part is the organic materials don't make static on her fur, unlike some of her other clothes :) less itchy, more happy!
